Virtual Try-On for Shopify

Liquid snippets, theme settings, and automatic product-page button injection — no App Store review required.

Setup in under 30 minutes

Add two theme snippets — tryonixs-sdk.liquid (loads the SDK and can auto-inject a button) and tryonixs-button.liquid (for manual button placement) — set your public API key in theme settings, and try-on is live on your product pages. There's no app to install from the Shopify App Store and no approval wait.

Theme snippet vs. app store approach

Most Shopify AR apps require installing from the App Store, which means App Store review, ongoing app-store fees in many cases, and less control over exactly where and how the try-on button renders. Tryonixs's snippet-based approach means the code lives directly in your theme — you control placement, styling, and rollout timing entirely.

Theme settings and metafields

  • API key configuration
  • Per-product frame images

Set your API key once in theme settings. For per-SKU control, use the tryonixs.frame_image_url product metafield to attach a transparent PNG frame (or beauty shade asset) to each product — the snippet reads this automatically so you don't hard-code image URLs per template.

Beauty and eyewear on Shopify

The same snippet and metafield pattern works for foundation and lipstick shades, not just eyewear frames — set the appropriate category and product image metafield per SKU, and the SDK routes to the right try-on module automatically.

Merchant setup checklist

1. Create a Tryonixs account and copy your public API key (pk_live_...). 2. Add tryonixs-sdk.liquid and tryonixs-button.liquid to your theme. 3. Set the API key in theme settings. 4. Add tryonixs.frame_image_url (or the beauty equivalent) as a metafield on each product you want live. 5. Allowlist your storefront domain in the Tryonixs dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Shopify app from the App Store?

No. Tryonixs uses theme snippets — no app store approval required. Add snippets directly in your theme editor and you're live.

Does this work with Shopify 2.0 (Online Store 2.0) themes?

Yes. The Liquid snippets work with Online Store 2.0 section-based themes as well as legacy themes — the setup steps are the same either way.

Can I add try-on to only some products?

Yes. Try-on only activates on products where you've set the frame/shade image metafield, so rollout can be as gradual as you want — start with a handful of hero SKUs.

Does it work with beauty products, not just eyewear?

Yes — foundation and lipstick try-on use the same snippet pattern with the appropriate metafield and category, so a single Shopify integration covers both eyewear and beauty catalogs.

Will this slow down my product page?

The SDK script is lightweight and loads asynchronously; the AI models only download when a shopper actually clicks "Try On," not on initial page load, so it has no measurable impact on your page speed for shoppers who don't use the feature.
